The 51st Annual Grammy Awards are set for Sunday, February 9th, 2009, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Recording Academy President/CEO Neil Portnow and CBS EVP/Specials, Music and Live Events Jack Sussman made the joint announcement on May 21st. The show will air live on CBS beginning at 8 p.m. ET (tape-delayed on the west coast). Grammy nominations will be announced Thursday, December 4th.
Portnow said, "The next 50 is here, and we are delighted to be in our hometown. We will continue to offer a weeklong series of Grammy events that showcase various genres of music, educational programs and charitable activities. Additionally, we look forward to working with the city of Los Angeles and our great partners at CBS and Staples Center on another memorable Grammy show."
