'This Way' To Acoustic Alchemy's Newest Release

British outfit Acoustic Alchemy has completed work on their upcoming release, This Way, due in stores on June 5th via Narada Jazz. The album was recorded at London's Higher Ground Studios and includes all original songs by guitar duo Greg Carmichael and Miles Gilderdale.

The 11-track album features an impressive list of guest stars, including Rick Braun, who plays the flugelhorn on "Carlos and the King," and Jeff Kashiwa, who adds saxophone to the song "Egg." Pianist Neil Cowley and Terry Disley, and saxophonist Snake Davis also drop in to add their musical magic to the set, in addition to band regulars Greg Grainger on drums, Fred White on trumpet and Julian Crampton on bass.

Carmichael says that choosing singles for radio can be challenging because the group covers so much ground stylistically on each recording. Carmichael told us: "The thing about Acoustic Alchemy -- and it's a good thing and it also sometimes works against us -- is that lots of people will listen to the album and they'll say, 'Oh, that's the right track,' or 'That's right.' Because, you know, our music is, within the realms of one album, quite different. They're all different sorts of styles, slightly different feels. And I think people will like one thing as opposed to the other. So it's hard to get everyone to say, 'Yes, that is absolutely the track.' "

The track listing of This Way is as follows:
"Love Is All There Is"
"Ernie"
"Who Knows"
"Slampop"
"Out of Nowhere"
"This Way"
"Tied Up With String"
"Only in My Dreams"
"Carlos the King"
"Egg"
"Now I'm On My Way"
