'The Simpsons' Pay Tribute To Pink Floyd

Homer SimpsonAs part of the promotional campaign for The Simpsons Movie DVD that is released December 18th, a giant inflatable "Spider-Pig" floated above London's Battersea Power Station in a tribute to the cover of Pink Floyd's 1977 album Animals. In the film, the "Spider-Pig" is Homer Simpson's pet.

The Pink Floyd pig has been referenced in previous episodes of the TV show. In the episode "Homerpalooza," Peter Frampton mentions that he bought the pig at "Pink Floyd's yard sale," and in the "Lisa the Vegetarian" episode, a roasted pig is thrown through the air when a dam dislodges it, and it flies past the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant.
