Program Offers Brand-Name Medication For $5, With Home Delivery

DETROIT…With one call to the local 2-1-1 service, low-income Michigan residents can get brand-name medication for only $5 per prescription per month – with delivery right to their homes.  World Medical Relief, in partnership with the United WaySoutheastern Michigan’s 2-1-1 service, is offering this new Prescription Assistance Program to low-income individuals and families who do not have Medicaid or other prescription coverage.  The program saves patients hundreds of dollars each month.

“This revolutionary program helps those people who often fall through the cracks – many have jobs and don’t qualify for Medicaid, yet they don’t have insurance through work and cannot afford their prescriptions,” says Rita Grezlik, president and CEO of World Medical Relief.  “Now, with our Prescription Assistance Program and the help of United Way for Southeastern Michigan, people need only call 2-1-1 (800-552-1183 from outside Southeastern Michigan), answer eight brief questions to qualify for the program, and they’ll begin receiving their medications by mail."

Other programs usually have confusing processes that require many hours of paperwork a month.  World Medical Relief’s program has reduced that process to a one-page enrollment application.  Once enrolled, World Medical Relief staff stays in contact with each patient and manages the process, tracking refills and ensuring medication accuracy.

Patients receive medications in a three-month supply at their homes, approximately 10 weeks from the application date.  Eligible participants cannot be covered by Medicaid, have other prescription coverage, or earn more than $19,000 for individuals or $31,000 for couples.

This program offers great convenience for only $5 per prescription per month.  Patients don’t have to keep up with tedious paperwork, and they don’t have to worry about how they’ll get to the doctor or pharmacy to pick up their prescriptions, “says Grezlik.

Patients must call 2-1-1 in Southeastern Michigan to pre-qualify for the program. Outside of Southeastern Michigan, call 800-552-1183.
