Rob Zombie scored the biggest Labor Day weekend opening ever with Halloween last weekend, but he won't be cashing in on a sequel despite having signed a two-picture deal with Dimension Films. He told Entertainment Weekly, "I'm not going to do anymore Halloween movies, or any more remakes of any kind. I signed up for two more pictures, but not two more Halloween pictures."
Rob Zombie said the success of Halloween would probably lead to a sequel but he accomplished what he wanted to do in his one and only version: "Aw, I don't care what they do. You know, if it's successful, they're definitely going to make a sequel. I feel like I had to make it so that it ended so that people could walk out of the theater feeling like, 'Wow, I watched a movie with an ending.' And that's what I wanted to do."
Halloween made $31 million in theaters opening weekend.
